Meet The Maker
Hey There! I'm Happy You're Here
I’m Steph and I’m the maker behind all things Unwind. I’m a self proclaimed candle hoarder who started this labor of love in my apartment kitchen (which, if I’m honest, has basically been converted to a mini candle studio). I’m a one woman show and my goal is simple: to empower others to cultivate an environment of peace through self care goodies and affirmations for the soul.
When I’m not making candles you can catch me cuddled up on my couch watching a true crime documentary, whippin up all the carbs in my kitchen, or out at brunch with friends.
So Here's My Story
It was three months before my 25th birthday and I was cleaning out old notes on my phone. I stumbled across a note I wrote in High School listing out some of the goals I wanted to achieve by 25 and suddenly, all of the emotions I had been feeling over the past few months started rushing in. *Cue my quarter life crisis.* Not only did I feel like I wasn’t where I was supposed to be in life, I was also feeling unfulfilled.
Don’t get me wrong, I had checked everything off the list of things you should do in your early twenties:
- Graduate from a top tier college (and accumulated monstrous debt)
-Land a corporate job (that I was NOT loving)
- Become a dog mom to the sweetest furbaby (RIP, Mia)
But, I wasn’t happy. In fact, I was far from it. I felt lost, disconnected from my friends, and emotionally exhausted. Coming across that note in my phone only worsened my feelings of self doubt and intensified the crippling stress that I was doing my best to cope with.
My birthday came and went and everything from hanging out with friends to even getting out of bed on some days was starting to feel like a chore. Finally, I hit a crossroad and I had to decide if I was going to let onsetting depression consume me or if I would slow down and find a tool to manage my stress and keep my grounded. Spoiler alert: I went with the second option and after a lot of patience and perseverance, Unwind By Steph was born (shoutout to therapy, and Jesus). Oh, and for the record, I no longer subscribe to the notion that the different milestones of life have to be achieved by a certain age.
So, if you’re like me and have ever been overwhelmed with stress, here’s some small tips that can make a big difference:
1.Grab your favorite blanket, a good book, and cozy up with your favorite Unwind By Steph candle
2. Run a hot bath to relax your muscles and indulge in one of our sugar scrubs to revitalize your skin.
3. Inhale. Exhale. Unwind.
